Аннотация к статье:

В статье проводится анализ современных подходов к количественной и качественной оценке вклада исследовательских университетов в развитие экономики США. Представлена типология экономически значимых результатов деятельности исследовательских университетов, среди которых основным показателем вовлеченности университетов в экономику является их участие в передаче технологий. Проведя анализ факторов сближения интересов университетов и бизнеса, автор делает вывод о том, что экономическое развитие необходимо университетам, прежде всего, для выполнения их главной миссии – производства новых знаний и основной социальной функции по формированию человеческого капитала. Несмотря на трудности с количественной оценкой экономического вклада университетских исследований, значимость и необходимость развития академических исследований и передачи технологий в промышленность для обеспечения социально-экономического развития страны является общепризнанным фактом.

Abstract:

The article analyzes the modern approaches to quantitative and quality assessment of a contribution of the research universities to the national U.S. economy. Th e typology of economically signifi cant outputs of the research universities among which a key indicator of the involvement
of the universities into economy is their participation in technology transfer is presented. On the basis of the analysis of factors leading to convergence of mutual interests between universities and business, the author makes a conclusion that economic development is necessary for the universities, fi rst of all, for the performance of their main mission – creation of new knowledge as well as the main social function - creation of human capital. Despite diffi culties with quantitative assessment of an economic contribution of university research and research-related activities, the importance and need for fostering academic research and technology transfer to ensure social and economic development of the country is widely accepted
